Caribou on the Alaska Highway

While driving towards Watson Lake this week I spotted two caribou, which seemed to be licking the road.

They waited a little while before moving into the brush.

One quirky landmark in Yukon is the Watson Lake signpost forest. It began as a joke in the 1940s when troops were building the Alaska Highway.

It’s since developed into an odd collection of (stolen?) road signs from around the world.

Cold trucking in Watson Lake

We’re a long way from getting electric vehicles that can run at this temperature and pull this much weight.
