Spring weather is here. That means fast-moving waters are open again on the Yukon River.
The river is dangerous and therefore it’s a good location for real-world training in ice rescue.
The rescuers have been on the river a few times now but I happened to get a closer look Saturday.

This lovely bird is the Pica hudsonia or Magpie.
They are similar to crows and ravens but have a touch of white and blue on their feathers.
This bird was spotted at the Yukon Wildlife preserve though it as a wild bird that happened to be checking in near the caribou pen.

Beautiful mountain scenery in Carcross and a home with a wood stove. What a nice and quiet place it must be during winter.
