Travel on the Alaska Highway during summer and you’ll see bicycle tourists, travelling hundreds if not thousands of kilometres on epic journeys.

That bold, bright building with formline art is the George Johnston museum in Teslin Yukon.

Yukon Arctic Ultra: 690km on foot

The Yukon Arctic Ultra follows the trail of the Yukon Quest from Whitehorse to Dawson.

This year 40 runners signed up for the journey of 690km in 13 days on foot!

Some people also use snow bikes or skis for shorter distances. What an event!

The windchill was -38 today in Whitehorse…but some bicycle commuters were undeterred.

Centennial trail in the fall colours

The centennial trail is a paved 5km loop near downtown Whitehorse. It’s used by joggers, people walking and bicycles of all types including this recumbent bike.

Yukon is a place of long roads and open scenery.

Many fans of cycle tourism will travel for days on end, stopping to camp along the way.
