While driving towards Watson Lake this week I spotted two caribou, which seemed to be licking the road.

They waited a little while before moving into the brush.

Caribou have a spring migration and these days they are crossing the Alaska highway outside of Watson LakeĀ and near Teslin Yukon.

It can be a real road hazard at night. A large sign can be seen on the road warning people about their presence.

This shy caribou was spotted on the turnoff road to Carcross. Appropriately, the community’s name is a shortening of Caribou Crossing.
