Destruction Bay has a population of about 50 people. It’s always very windy on the shore of Kluane Lake.

The wind, in fact, is the reason for the name. When the U.S. military built a camp there while making the Alaska Highway it was flattened overnight by wind. The name Destruction Bay stuck.
