Yukon Arctic Ultra: 690km on foot

The Yukon Arctic Ultra follows the trail of the Yukon Quest from Whitehorse to Dawson.

This year 40 runners signed up for the journey of 690km in 13 days on foot!

Some people also use snow bikes or skis for shorter distances. What an event!

On Sept 30 Whitehorse got mroe than 10 centimetres of snow in one morning. It started snowing around 7am and before the morning commute was over people were sliding into the ditch.

The Yukon Avalanche Association checks snow conditions alongside the South Klondike Highway. They publish information on a website and also create web videos explaining snow conditions and how to stay safe.

The crew travel on skis and snowmobiles across a massive landscape. They warn people of avalanche risk.
